Magrodar Crater — Pokémon Rejuvenation Crater Guide

Magrodar Crater is the volcanic bowl on Terajuma Island, just south of Teila Resort — a small area that hides two things most players walk past: item pickups that only exist at night, and a Chimchar that takes twelve Charcoals to wake up.

What is here

The crater is reached from Teila Resort and is built around pushable rocks. All four of its items only exist after dark, because the rocks float at night and open routes that are solid ground by day. If you visited in daylight and found nothing, that is why.

The area's set piece is Tapu Koko, fought on the Dragon's Den Field in a double battle alongside Tesla's shiny Charizard — which arrives as an SOS Pokémon, is resummoned one turn after it faints, and holds a Charizardite X. Tapu Koko opens the fight with a shield up, so the battle runs longer than the level gap suggests.

LandmarkWhat it is for
Entrance, right sideWhere the Sun Stone and its neighbouring Zygarde Cell sit — past a pushable rock, at night only.
Lava sectionPast it on the right are a Charcoal and a second Zygarde Cell, again behind a pushable rock and again night only.
Chimchar's ledgeAt night the rocks float, which is the only way to reach Chimchar. Bringing it twelve Charcoals restores its energy and lets you fight it.
Dragon's Den FieldThe battle field for the Tapu Koko encounter. Bring a double-battle plan.

Magrodar Crater FAQ

Why can't I find the items in Magrodar Crater?

They are night-only. The Sun Stone and the Charcoal, and the two Zygarde Cells beside them, all sit behind pushable rocks that only float after dark.

How do I get Chimchar in Magrodar Crater?

Come at night, when the rocks float and the ledge opens. Chimchar needs twelve Charcoals to regain its energy before it will fight you, and it is a level 25 interact encounter rather than a wild spawn.

Is there a boss in Magrodar Crater?

Yes — Tapu Koko. It is a double battle on the Dragon's Den Field, fought alongside Tesla's shiny Charizard, which arrives as an SOS Pokémon and is resummoned a turn after it faints. Tapu Koko begins the fight with a shield.

What can I catch in Magrodar Crater?

Spinda, Magcargo, Koffing, Weezing, Numel, Mawile and Kangaskhan in the grass at levels 30–39. Chimchar is the eighth entry and needs the night-time puzzle solved first.

How do I reach Magrodar Crater?

It is south of Teila Resort on Terajuma Island, and that is the only connection the wiki records for the area.
