Mechanics Hub

Three pages on how the game's systems actually behave — battle rules, item behaviour, and what changes between releases.

Terajuma Jungle — a field-effect battle area in Pokemon Rejuvenation, tied to the mechanics guides
Field effects change every battle in Aevium — Terajuma Jungle is one of the environments the Mechanics guides cover, alongside the legendary pokemon featured in the Pokemon Locations guide.

The three systems pages, and the three reference lists under them

Three of those topics are large enough to be reference lists of their own rather than sections of an overview. If you already know which item you need, start there:

Every system these three pages cover

The cluster is broader than the three card titles suggest. This is the full inventory, so you can see what exists before deciding which page you need.

System What it decides Page
Acquisition methods Which routes exist at all for obtaining a species — wild, gift, egg, trade, event or boss. Pokemon guide
Wild encounters Where a species appears, how often, at what level, and which method brings it out. Pokemon guide
Gifts and eggs The one-time, scripted acquisitions that cannot be repeated if you miss them. Pokemon guide
Shadow Pokemon How a shadow Pokemon is captured and what purification does to it afterwards. Pokemon guide
Rift Pokemon Boss fights altered by Rift Matter — a different encounter type, not a difficulty setting. Pokemon guide
Aevian forms The region's own variants of existing species and what each one changes. Pokemon guide
Legendaries and mythicals Where the endgame catches sit and what has to be true before they appear. Pokemon guide
Teaching moves What the relearner, the tutors and the TMs each let you do — the three are not interchangeable. Items & moves
Field effects The battle environment itself: fifty fields, each rewriting what moves and abilities do. Items & moves
Crests Species-locked held items that change a single Pokemon's behaviour rather than its stats alone. Items & moves
Mega evolution Which species can mega evolve and what has to be obtained before any of them can. Items & moves
Key items Items that unlock routes or gate progress, as opposed to items you consume. Items & moves, Collection
Achievements and AP The 55 tracked milestones and the rewards that spending achievement points buys. Collection
Collectibles The scattered sets — cells, keys, shinies — that are found rather than earned. Collection

Three things the pages cover twice, from different angles

Overlap inside the cluster is deliberate: a system can matter both as something you obtain and as something you operate. Knowing which half you want saves a page load.

Thing On one page it is… On the other it is… Read
Mega evolution Pokemon guide: a category of acquisition — which species are eligible and where the stones come from. Items & moves: a mechanic — how the Omni Ring gates it and what changes in battle when it fires. Items & moves for the rule, Pokemon guide for the species.
Key items Items & moves: the ones that unlock routes or gate progress. Collection: the same objects tracked as a set to complete. Items & moves for what it does, Collection for where the set stands.
Aevian forms Pokemon guide: what the variant is and how it differs from the original species. Locations: which area of Aevium each form belongs to. Pokemon guide to identify it, Locations to go and find it.

Where this cluster stops

These three pages explain systems. Several neighbouring questions sound like mechanics but are answered elsewhere, usually better, because the answer depends on something this cluster does not track.

Question Not here, because Answer lives on
What is inside this particular area? Encounters are indexed by species here, not by map. The per-area tables list every spawn in one place. Locations
Can I switch difficulty, or turn a system off? Those are password-gated toggles, not mechanics. The password page lists what each code changes. Passwords
Does this decision lock me out of something? Lockouts are a consequence of story choices, and the choice pages track them per branch. Save & choices, Relationship
Is this behaviour new in V14, or has it always worked this way? Change history belongs with the release, not with the system. The version page carries the release-by-release record. Versions & updates

What this hub does not do

It inventories the systems and points at the page that explains each one. It does not define them — a definition here would be a second, thinner copy of a page that already covers the subject properly, and would compete with it rather than help you.

About this hub

A mechanic is not behaving the way a guide says it should. Which page do I check?

Check the release the guide was written for first — between releases this game has changed level caps, item availability and even what certain key items do. Each card below names the release its page was verified against.

Are these pages about rules, or about where to find things?

Rules. Where to find a specific item or creature is a different job and is covered by the region and collection pages, not here. This hub is about how the systems work once you have the pieces.

How do these pages handle things that changed between releases?

Anything version-dependent is labelled with the release it applies to rather than presented as a standing rule. If a card below is verified only against an older release, it says so.
