Goldenwood Forest — Pokémon Rejuvenation Forest Guide
Goldenwood Forest is the golden-tree forest north of Route 1 on Floria Island, and it is where the game introduces Team Xen, Shadow Pokemon and the Snag Machine — behind two codes.

How to get there
Where this area leads:

| East | Wispy Path |
Cut, Surf is needed somewhere in this area, not necessarily to enter it — the tables below say where.
What this area is
Goldenwood Forest is lined with a mixture of golden and orange trees as well as golden grass. A flower bed can be found to the south-east. North of that is a central lake that peters out into a river to the north. Across the bridge of the river is a small four-way crossroad. Goldenwood Cave can be found to the north. Goldenwood Forest is also the site of the player's first interaction with Team Xen, Shadow Pokémon and a Dimensional Rift. Upon completion of Goldenwood Cave and a battle against Melia, exiting the cave leads to a cutscene where the route's inhabitants are being attacked by a Grunt and their Shadow Meowth. Enter the Code 3845 for a Free Ability Capsule, must be done before you enter the code for the Snag Machine. You get this code from noting the code combination she had for Lunch. Enter the code 6489 into the briefcase to receive 15 Poké Balls and the Snag Machine, a device which allows the player to capture a Trainer's Shadow Pokémon in a Poké Ball. With Wispy Path blocked off, the player has no choice but to escape south, back to East Gearen City fighting the Xen Grunts and eventually Zetta, a Team Xen Executive. Melia following behind the player will heal their party when spoken to.
What is here
The layout is simple and described precisely by the wiki: golden and orange trees with golden grass, a flower bed to the south-east, and north of that a central lake that narrows into a river heading north. Across the river's bridge is a small four-way crossroad, and Goldenwood Cave is to the north.
This is the site of the player's first encounter with Team Xen, with a Shadow Pokemon and with a Dimensional Rift. After Goldenwood Cave and the battle against Melia, leaving the cave triggers the scene where the route's inhabitants are attacked by a Xen Grunt and their Shadow Meowth.
Two codes matter, and the order matters. Enter 3845 for a free Ability Capsule — it has to be done before you enter the Snag Machine code. The code comes from noting the combination she had for lunch. Then enter 6489 into the briefcase to receive 15 Poke Balls and the Snag Machine, the device that lets you capture a trainer's Shadow Pokemon in a Poke Ball.
From there the route is an escape. Wispy Path is blocked off, so the only way out is south back to East Gearen City, fighting Xen Grunts and eventually Zetta, a Team Xen Executive. Melia follows behind you during it, and speaking to her heals your party — which is the difference between finishing the sequence and restarting it.
Cut and Surf are the route's field moves, the Den of Verity is one of its named features, and the encounters are single-digit to low-teens: Poochyena at 25% and Sentret at 24%, across 27 rows.
| Landmark | What it is for |
|---|---|
| The Ability Capsule code | 3845. Must be entered before the Snag Machine code, and the code comes from noting the combination she had for lunch. |
| The briefcase | Enter 6489 for 15 Poke Balls and the Snag Machine — the device that lets you catch a trainer's Shadow Pokemon. |
| The central lake and the crossroad | North of the flower bed, with the river running north from the lake and a four-way crossroad across its bridge. |
| Goldenwood Cave | North of the forest, and the route into the sequence's second half. |
| Den of Verity | One of the forest's named features. |
| Wispy Path | East, and blocked off during the escape — which is why the exit is south. |
| Melia | Follows you during the escape. Speaking to her heals your party. |
Before you go
- Enter 3845 before 6489. The Ability Capsule code has to be used before the Snag Machine code, and doing them the other way round loses it.
- Talk to Melia during the escape. She heals your party when spoken to, which matters over a sequence of consecutive Xen fights with no other heal point.
- The Snag Machine is the reward for the briefcase code, and it is what makes Shadow Pokemon capturable from trainers. It is a permanent unlock rather than a one-off item.
- Do not plan to leave east. Wispy Path is blocked during the escape, so the only exit is south to East Gearen City — through the fights.
