What this area is
To wake up Snorlax use a Pokeflute, that you get from Oblitus Town after you clear Missing Miltank Quest and get Fly.
What is here
The woods need five field moves — Rock Smash, Cut, Surf, Strength and Dive — which is the deepest requirement of any forest on the site. The Dive is for the Swamp Pit in the north-east, which is the underwater route into the Kingdom of Goomidra.
The Honey Tree is the mechanic. Honey encounters produce a completely separate table at level 40: Burmy at 68%, Combee at 26%, Aipom at 4% and Forretress at 2%. None of those four appear in the ordinary grass here, so the honey table is the only way to get them on this route.
Snorlax is asleep in the woods and stays that way until you have a Pokeflute. The wiki is specific about where it comes from: Oblitus Town, after clearing the Missing Miltank quest, and you need Fly as well. That makes Snorlax a return trip rather than a first-visit catch.
The fishing follows the same pattern as the rest of the region — a guaranteed species on each of the old rods and a different pool on the Super Rod. Goldeen is 100% on the Old Rod, Remoraid 100% on the Good Rod, and Crawdaunt 90% with Octillery at 10% on the Super Rod.
The grass table is almost entirely Bug and Grass, at levels 55-62: Carnivine at 25%, Combee at 17%, Stunfisk at 15%, and Karrablast and Shelmet at 12% and 10%. Karrablast and Shelmet both being here matters, because they only evolve by trading with each other.
There are ten recorded pickups, and several need field moves or a specific approach — the TinyMushroom, Poison Gem, Cleanse Tag and Leaf Stone are all around the upper-left pond.
| Landmark | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Honey Tree | The woods' defining feature. Honey encounters are a separate level-40 table: Burmy 68%, Combee 26%, Aipom 4%, Forretress 2%. |
| Snorlax Area | Where the sleeping Snorlax is. It needs a Pokeflute — from Oblitus Town, after the Missing Miltank quest, and requiring Fly. |
| Swamp Pit | The underwater area in the north-east, reached with Dive. It is the way into the Kingdom of Goomidra. |
| Honec Shrine | A named landmark in the woods. |
| Darchlight Area | The section of the woods that leads on towards the Darchlight Caves. |
| Upper-left pond | Where the TinyMushroom, Poison Gem, Cleanse Tag and Leaf Stone are, all of them needing field moves to reach. |
Before you go
- Use the Honey Tree before anything else. Burmy, Aipom and Forretress do not appear in this wood's ordinary grass at all, so honey is the only route to them here.
- Snorlax needs a Pokeflute from Oblitus Town, which needs the Missing Miltank quest done and Fly. Do not plan around catching it on your first pass.
- Dive is required for the Swamp Pit, which is how the Kingdom of Goomidra is reached. Four field moves is not enough here.
- Karrablast and Shelmet are both in this wood's grass. They only evolve into Escavalier and Accelgor by being traded for each other, so catch one of each while you are here.
